Use MIDI from any device or software to control the entire interface. Send MIDI out so your MIDI device will light up pretty buttons or even move motorized faders. Want more precision & flexibility? Resolume can receive OSC (Open Sound Control) messages too! OSC enables you to control resolume from an iPad or iPhone using TouchOSC.
Sounds great !I simply hope that avenue 4 will come in a stable version in the first version !I was a little bored because I paid avenue 3 when it was released and it only went stable from 3.3.1 version. So there was just a minor update to 3.3.2 and then avenue 4 was anounced :-/

It looks very good guys, but i must say i am a it disappointed these features couldnt become available as updates in resolume 3. I have a 2 laptop setup using 3.3.2 and 2.4, still relying on some features in 2.4 that i just could not do with 3, mainly autopilot/chaosmode and quickly changing speed/direction/ectect. I've used v3 since it came out, but never got the hang of it, mainly missing features you added in v4, of which i feel they could have been needed in v3 updates. Could you eleborate on why moving up to the next version?
previously, there was a mention of something that might decrease the amount of screen tearing ( not sure what it was, maybe a fixed fps to avoid avenue output loosing sync with the graphics card? ) has it made it through to avenue 4?

They're a sure fire way to make your system unstable though, so we highly advise against it.SystemD wrote:Is it possible to upgrade from Resolume 2 to Resolume 4 directly, because i've two licenses (Resolume 2 and Resolume 3)For such personal questions, please contact us directly and we'll see if we can work something out for this.basvcds wrote:i feel they could have been needed in v3 updates. Could you eleborate on why moving up to the next version?R3 is a piece of software written with a specific set of functions in mind, mostly different than R2.41. We've improved the workflow for it as much as we could over the past three years, and it's a good live tool as it stands. Even though the interface largely looks the same, the new features for R4 are essentially features that were never planned as a part of R3, and that have been developed over the last year, for a large part taking into account user requests.mzo wrote:Can Resolume 4 output clip names over OSC?No. We have done some experiments with this, but it's not going to be part of this release.VJair wrote: there was a mention of something that might decrease the amount of screen tearingThe V-Sync has been rewritten for this release.

VERY pumped to hear about the rewritten V-Sync!
Brilliant! looks like a great set of new features. It looks like Resolume Avenue has finally come of age... So glad i took advantage of the 10th anniversary license discount. Will there be any mapping features in avenue, or only in arena?

Hey MfoI'm afraid I can actually be short about your list, because none of these feature requests have made it into R4. It's not that we think they're bad ideas (we've actually done quite a bit of work on copying properties), they just weren't a priority for this release. You can always reach us at mail[at]resolume[dot]com.Joris
I think when you actually use R4, you will realize the extent to which fundamental aspects of the program had to be rewritten/rebuilt. The UI has been kept similar, but there are a lot of new capabilities under the hood.jonek3d wrote:honestly, many of listed features could be implemented into version 3 of resolume
I just want to comment about auto pilot ,THANK YOU for that but in the mean time why stop there ,such great disappointment.I am a Modul 8 user for years ,and I can say is great in many ways....I decided to get resolume but my big disappointment was that I can't change from one channel /column to the other....from A TO B and not only you can have C and D and automate in between in an automatic mod based on bpm or other settings ... I would like to see a button A and a button B integrated in the column and I want to automate that and assign columns to A and B with a transition if it is possible .... that's is making more sens for mixing purposes and live mixing.I want to build a column with elements and then assign that to another one and be able to mix ..... having the layer assignet it does not make a lot of sense because you can have only one clip at the time that you can assign to A and B channel.I want to build like in modul 8, 5 layers with elements on one channel A .....and another 5 layers with elements on B channel and then automate based on bpm or other setting. Resolume it is great in many ways but is missing so much from lack of those futures ....I am using modul 8 and for live it is great but it is got some limitations to .... it has only 5 layers per channel A and 5 layers on channel B .... right now resolume can be way ahead in this because you can have many layers on one channel or column and you can build more complex videos based on graphic elements and ad ons .But unfortunately I don't see any of those features implemented in resolume ,only partial A on one layer and a B on the other layer and all of this one at the time ... very basic.I own resolume and I hope I will see some of those futures in it ,because the workflow will be much easier and more powerful ,but for now I am sticking with modul 8 for live just because it makes more sens in mixing and building live on the spot my videos ....

I use GrandVJ on a high end PC, not for VJ purposes, but for playing back HD loops and layering HD elementsover those loops. We have a 32x9 wall which is about 45 feet wide.I work at a large Broadcast TV studio in the US and we love GVJ as an alternative to traditional broadcast playback devices because we like its interactive-playback capabilities and we playback megasize uncompressed quicktime.mov loops (no harddrives in this pc, only ssds and ocz revodrive). What all users are craving for are the clip-playback capabilities announced in Resolume-4.Being able to stop at last frame, advance to another clip when done, and single layer transitions are exactlywhat the broadcast community requires if such apps as Resolume-4 are to be adopted.I almost feel that marketing an app like Resolume-4 as a "VJ" app is short sighted and may prevent users withtraditional playback needs to not even consider such apps for testing. Resolume and GVJ are more than VJ apps.Lastly, I have a question about Resolume-4. When a clip finishes playing and is programmed to immediately playback another clip - is it a seamless transition? In other words, if I have a 100 frame animation that I re-render into 2 animations (anim1=frames1-50, anim2=frames 51-100), will I notice a transition happened between the 2 clips... or is it visually seamless???Lastly again, thankyou for the development of resolume-4, I look forward to testing the Beta.
Almost forgot...I mentioned that with GVJ I playback megasize uncompressed w/alpha and that is awesome.Unfortunately, megasize means multi-gigabyte files.Resolume is not as forgiving as GVJ in terms of acceptable file formats.I have done some initial testing of my megasize files but rerendered them with the DXV codec w/alphausing resolume-3 for playback. The file sizes are wayyyyy smaller now - almost like H.264 file sizes. My initial HD layering tests of resolume-3 and DXV codec w/alpha resulted in spectacular results - scary nice!I plan to do further testing to estimate how "lossy" the DXV codec is... but again, so far, scary nice and fast.I will forget about GVJ if I can do seamless switching/linking between clips... DXV is sweet and Resolume-4 has beautiful interface... I really want to switch to R4.thanx for listening.

I can only grab the hdmi source source when its output is on 1080i (camera or computer), no signal with 1080p, tried all Intensity mode without any result. Also, to come back on-topic, why no record (not the record button we all know, but a way to record the show) function on resolume 4 ??? 2ff7e9595c
